The new look Godalming side put in another encouraging performance on Saturday against a pacy University side.
A debut goal from Phil Melling dinking the ball over the advancing keeper got Godalming back into the game midway through the first half but the team went into the half time break 2-1 after conceding a sloppy penalty close to half time.
University netted a third 15 mins into the second half and then Ollie Mills took advantage of a mistake from the University keeper and Godalming were back in the game.
University managed to retain their 2 goal advantage with a breakaway as Godalming were looking to push forward in search of the elusive equaliser.
Despite this latest defeat it was a good and competitive performance against a side who went top of the league after this result.
A mention should be made to Aaron Kelly coming on as a sub in the second half for his debut and also the return of Neil Wilkie at left back who will provide some stiff competition to player manager Nick Gill.
Fine performances from Chris Brennan and Steve Bannister at the back were unfortunately not enough to stem this lengthly losing run. A run that Godalming will be hoping to bring to a long overdue stop this week against the University Old Boys
