Well what can you say...the premierships Dermot Gallaher has the ability to change the course of the game with a single decision. And so did Godalmings own version. Back from injury after a lengthy lay off, captain for the day and for 90+4 minutes didn't put a foot wrong....On 90 + 5 minutes with Godalming looking for only their second victory of the season after an inspired and hard fought performance against Pyrford, they defended what was to be the last kick of the game. Lining up for a corner with Gallaher strategically placed on the near post, the ball took some 'reverse swing' and unluckily glanced off the head of Gallaher across the Godalming goal and into the net. Final whistle. 2-2 and Godalming still unable to secure their second win of the season...The result however was one thing. The manner of the performance another.
Coming off the back of a lamentable performance against Unis OB the week before Godalming fought, battled and more than held their own against a Pyrford side third in the league.
Ollie Mills put Godalming 1-0 up in the first half and despite an equaliser right on half time, Robbie Bridger put the home side back in front with an oportunistic effort early in the second half.
Inspired by Man of the match, Aaron Kelly the defence held firm and the team continued to push for a 3rd goal. Although it never came and with the loss of two late points no comfort at all, strong performances right throughout the team should certainlty be recognised and no doubt will install belief as move into the closing stages of the season.
